Your Child is a coalition of Michigan-based education and family organizations that came together in 2004 to study attitudinal and other barriers to children’s education. The nonprofit coalition is dedicated to:
Your Child is a coalition of Michigan-based education and family organizations that came together in 2004 to study attitudinal and other barriers to children’s education. The nonprofit coalition is dedicated to:
- improving community conversations about education;
- stepping up citizens' commitment to education; and
- strengthening Michigan’s culture of education.
Your Child has focused on measuring and raising awareness of public opinion and perceptions towards education, but coalition partners want to raise the stakes in this effort. Recently, this was made possible through award of a Southeast Michigan Workforce Innovations in Regional Economic Development (WIRED) grant, funded through the U.S. Department of Labor.
Specifically, Your Child is shifting its focus from simply measuring and reporting attitudes to building a movement focused on getting more youth and families to accept and act on the fact that a meaningful post secondary education is essential for success in the knowledge economy.
